Hey guys! I wanted to challenge myself and post something a bit out of my comfort zone, and voila! This post was born – my everyday makeup routine. I’m constantly trying new things, and buying new makeup products just happens to be my favorite pastime, so I’m not sure how long this will be my “routine” but it’s what I’ve been doing as of late! 😉 I don’t wear makeup everyday, but I find that whenever I do, I just feel more productive and put together…aaaaand, I’m less likely to crawl back in bed during the day #naploverforlife.
So, this is my “I have no time to do anything cray but I still want to look like a human so I’ll throw some products on my face” look.
Shall we begin?
(not pictured) Neutrogena tinted moisturizer
1.) The first thing I do is apply my primer. Then, I use my tinted moisturizer. I prefer using this over a liquid foundation because a.) it’s light & b.) I am the worst at finding foundations that match my skin tone. IMHO, there’s nothing worse than doing your makeup and then getting in the car only to find that your face doesn’t match your neck. Yeah…not cute. I never have that problem with this stuff, so I’m pretty much in love.
Next, I’ll dab on some concealer under my eyes, and on any other areas that need concealing. Finally, I apply my mineral foundation all over my face with a fluffy brush. This stuff is the coolest because it feels cold when you apply it. (Anyone catch my pun there?) I like to come back to my blush and contour after I’ve finished my eyes. To me, it’s like the icing on the cake, and I like to save it for last. Is that weird? My bad.
2.) Moving onto the eyes, I’ve been using this amazing palette lately. Seriously, I’m not sure how I lived nineteen years without it. It’s fantastic. If you don’t have it…go. Now. Okay? *ahem*… I pick up the color “Warm Taupe” and buff that into the crease, then I pat the shade “Tempura” all over the lid. Boom! Done. This palette is so versatile, it’s crazy. From the smokey cranberry eye I did on Valentine’s Day (yes, that happened) to this simple everyday look…it’s.so.good. Okay, moving on now, because I could talk about my love for this thing for days.
3.) Next, I pick up my eyeliner, and I do whatever I’m feeling that day. Today I just lined my upper lash line, but I also line my lower lash line, waterline, and/or tightline regularly. It really just depends on how dramatic or natural I prefer to go. When I’m feeling adventurous, I practice my wings, but definitely not when I’m pressed for time because I fail more often than not.
Then, my favorite part: mascara. I curl my lashes, apply a non-waterproof version, then I top it off with a waterproof kind. Layering mascaras with both a waterproof and a normal kind is my “secret” to keeping my lashes in place, lengthened, curled, and just not smudging all over my face all day. You need to try it! My absolute favorite combo is this one and this one, but I just used what I had on hand.
4.) Now I grab my contour palette, practice my best duck face, and try to add some structure to this face of mine. Also, I pick up an eyeshadow brush, and contour down the sides of my nose. When blended correctly, it adds so much life and structure to the center of your face. Lastly for my face, I just apply some of this blush to the apples of my cheek, and blend it in.
5.) Finally, I throw on my lip balm. I would totally be a lipstick person, but my husband won’t kiss me with lipstick on because he doesn’t want it on his face, which, I’ll admit is logical. Since I happen to be a woman who likes to be kissed by her man (call me crazy, I know) I try to refrain from that…most of the time. 😉 Know of any good kiss proof lipsticks? I’d love to try them!
Oh, and I just quickly set my makeup with my facial spray so it lasts longer, and it doesn’t look as powdery!
That’s it! I know it may seem like a lot, but I can get it done in less than five minutes. Ya know, just practicing for my #momlife days which are sure to come in the
hopefully not-so-distant future! 😉 Also — please forgive the awful selfie. Not only am I not so skilled in that department, but we also don’t have any windows in our apartment so the lighting was baaaad. Moving on.
What does your makeup routine usually entail? I’d love to hear!
